Wombat Crossing Vineyard - a micro boutique, single vineyard winemaker at Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley.

Wombat Crossing Vineyard is one of the newest of the Pokolbin wine families. We make tiny quanities of consistently high quality, single vineyard table wines from the grapes grown only on our property - since 2005.  Our vineyards were planted from 1995 - semillon, chardonnay and shiraz.  We have invested to improve our vineyard and the property to improve your wine and  experience you enjoy when you visit.

In good vintage years we produce single vineyard wines in collaboration with Jeff Byrne, our winemaker. We simply don't make wine in bad years.

Come on up Hermitage Rd and try them this weekend!  We have a stunning cellar door with outlook over the vineyards and the distant hills, and we would enjoy showing you our limited range of wines that are for sale only through the cellar door, or in a few select local restaurants. Fortunately we aren't big enough to offer our table wines through the big wine retailers, so you will find some very unique and typical Hunter varietal wines when you drop in.

Our Cellar Door is open every Saturday from 10.30am to 5pm. Or by appointment most Friday afternoons and Mondays - call Ian on 0419 229551. (Closed July 12, 2015 and XMAS, Anzac Day, Easter Friday and Sunday on Lovedale Long Lunch weekend.)

Simon, our sommelier, Trish or Ian, owners, will make you very welcome and show you our wines. We offer personal tastings using Riedel stems accompanied by traditional cheese and biscuits. We provide a tutored wine tasting, with wine notes and a vineyard briefing.  We charge $6 for our current vintage wine tasting, which is is forgiven for every 6 bottles purchased on the day. A more extensive museum and trophy winning wine tasting is also available at an extra cost.

We have a wine club (2 case per year allocation) that offers wine and accommodation rebates and benefits, free wine tastings, free use of picnic facilites adjacent to our dam, and invitations to our seasonal lunches held at the vineyard and Restaurant Botanica, opposite on Hermitage Rd.

Our tasting room is fully airconditioned in summer, and has a wood fire for colder winter days.  There are tasting tables outside, so you can enjoy the view over one of the best presented vineyard properties in Pokolbin, across fields to the far Barrington Tops when the weather is kind.

Recent Releases:  We have released our 2013 Single Vineyard Semillon, our 2013 Classic, our 2011 Single Vineyard Chardonnay, and our 2010 Single Vineyard Shiraz. Our 2011 Rose allocation has also been released.
